Cook 2/3 cup raisins until almost no water remains. Put raisins in cake pan.
Mix together:
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
vanilla
Pour over raisins.
Mix:
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups hot water
2 Tbs. butter
Pour over batter. Bake until done. Serve with whipped cream.
Another raisin recipe. I guess raisins would have been a fruit easy to store, which would make it an easy staple. I guess I just had not considered them as a base to so many recipes. They just seemed like good snacks and perfect finger foods for toddlers to me.
