LaVerne's Meat Balls

1 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs 
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup ground walnuts
1 large onion - finely chopped
3 or 4 slightly beaten eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning


Mix all together - Form into balls.  Fry in about 1/3 inch of oil until brown and firm.  Pour off oil.  Simmer in both for about 30 minutes.


Broth for Meat Balls
2 Tbs Savorex or similar seasoning
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 chopped onion
1 stalk celery chopped
1/3 chopped green pepper
8 oz can tomato sauce


Add enough water to cover meatballs and additional Savorex to taste.  Simmer 30 minutes. Discard sauce. May freeze meatballs and warm just before serving.

On this cute light yellow 3 x 5 inch card is one of many meat ball recipes in the box.  Of course, they are all meat-less.   This one has similar ingredients to many of the others.  I think I will post them all as I come across them though, so maybe someone will try each one or know the specific differences in taste between them.
